Template:Infobox session Rester, seeking to join The Order of Seven was tasked to seek out and retrieve a cursed coin. Rester had been pursuing his lead, a gnome who suffered from dwarfism named Joebob, from the High Forest in Stilfurt to the Ids Walder Forest in Bycoast. Managing to catch Joebob, Rester utilized some interrogation tactics he knew and threw Joebob through the mail slot of a nearby home. Bursting through the door of the home, damaging it, Rester met the owner of the home, Ravacaryn.
Ravacaryn was a simple Aarakocra, they liked to live closer to the earth and practice their woodworking skills. Ravacaryn had a penchant for birdhouses, not for birds the size of Aarakocra but their smaller siblings. Somewhat dumbfounded that a small child just flew through their mail slot pursed by a fellow Aarakocra, he watched the scene unfold before him.
Rester, using his less than savory interrogation tactics, learned from Joebob that the Coin was stolen from him in the town of Darkwell by a giant, all the way back in the High Forest. Rester attempted to coerce Joebob to lead him back there but was unable to sway Joebob without the help of coin. In exchange for two gold pieces and his life, Joebob agreed to guide Rester back to Darkwell and help him find the Coin. Before leaving, Rester assured Ravacaryn that the Order would pay to have their door repaired. Untrusting of Rester, Ravacaryn decided to tag along, to make sure they got the coin.
Arriving in Darkwell, our group inquired about thieves and giants and were pointed in the direction of Tybalt, priest of the local church to Tymora and mayor of Darkwell. Speaking with Tybalt, they learned that the town has been plagued by robberies for the past few weeks. Tybalt was offering fifty gold pieces for any information. He also directed them to Kava (the local innkeeper), as she would know more specifics.
On the way to the inn, Rester heard murmuring coming from the well but decided to ignore it as he had more pressing issues to deal with.
Entering the inn, a battered man sitting at a table by himself, motioned to our group to join him. Intrigued, Rester headed over to join him. Ravacaryn, hungry after the long journey, decided to get some bread. Telling Joebob he would have to pay, Joebob agreed and told Ravacaryn he would get the bread and bring it to them. As Ravacaryn went to join Rester, Joebob saw his opportunity to escape and took it.
The injured man, Dante Nicholson, informed the group that he had collected a package containing the Coin for the Order and that he was waiting for someone to pick it up. Unfortunately, it was stolen during the night by kobolds. He tried to fight them off but they savagely beat him. Asking the other patrons at the inn about kobolds and the robberies, a few children mentioned they saw Yeleta speaking with kobolds but they were cut off by their parents telling them not to spread rumors about people. Most of the town believed the robberies were perpetrated by evil spirits residing within the well.
Believing the well and kobolds related, our group rented a room facing the well and staked it out for the night. After switching places, Rester caught a glimpse of movement keeping to the shadows. Without missing a beat, Rester roused Ravacaryn and gave chase, easily catching a kobold. Ravacaryn, still somewhat groggy, caught up to Rester who told them to see if they could follow the fleeing kobolds.
Rester, attempting to interrogate the lone kobold, didn't manage to get anything out of it. Rester decided to release the kobold and follow it back to its lair.
Ravacaryn attempted to follow the fleeing kobolds, unfortunately, lost them within the forest. Heading back to town, they came upon a grove. In the center was a small shack surrounded by exotic plants, many of which they had never seen. Through the window of the shack, Ravacaryn saw a woman beckoning them closer. This woman, Yeleta, told them she had been waiting for their arrival, and that she was a seer. She had foreseen Ravacaryn coming to her door and that they were looking for the cursed Coin. Asking about the kobolds, Yeleta admitted she had spoken to them in hopes of getting them to protect the town, but they had refused. Yeleta also told Ravacaryn the history of the Coin, how it was created by Garl Glittergold and how he traded it for a piece of moldy bread from a greedy gnome merchant and how the merchant's greed became increasingly more maddening, and soon the merchant could no longer even eat food as it would be lost wealth.
Yeleta offered to lead Ravacaryn to the entrance of the kobolds caves in exchange for the Coin so she could use her magical plants to destroy it. Ravacaryn agreed and she led them to the cave, where they met up with Rester. Yeleta parted ways with our group, and they headed into the cave. Ambushed by four kobolds our group fought a hard battle, and nearly lost their lives. Learning they were going to need help if they were going to manage to get the coin back, they headed back to Darkwell to rest and recover. Passing the well again, both heard the murmurs coming from the well. In a state of near exhaustion, Rester shouted down that they would deal with the well in the morning. He heard a voice reply "alright, what's another day down here."
After an evening's rest, they went back to investigate the well. Inquiring with the voice, it claimed to be the local wizard called Gurt Sadraxis, and that he had fallen into the well some 20 years ago when his tower suddenly lurched, and that he was currently pinned to the bottom by his pet rock. Ravacaryn confirmed this when he transformed into a spider and climbed down. With the help of Tybalt and some of the stronger men in the town, they managed to get the rock off of Gurt and got him out of the well. In exchange for their help, Gurt offered to assist them with the kobolds. Tybalt also decided to join them.
Making their way back to the caves, our group found the kobolds ready for another attack. Luckily the kobolds were not prepared for such a well-armed force. Our group, using their superior ranged weapons to their advantage, made quick work of the kobolds and easily made it to their treasure hoard. Finding the treasure very well protected, Ravacaryn used their magic to charm a kobold, Cobalt, to their side. After a hard-fought battle, Rester and Cobalt were the last left standing, and Rester quickly stabilized Gurt, Tybalt, and Ravacaryn. Seeing the writing on the wall, Rester quickly ended Cobalt's life, knowing Cobalt would turn on him before long. After waking, Ravacaryn was heartbroken and asked Rester which kobold was Cobalt so they could take a keepsake from him. Rester told Ravacaryn it was some random kobold. Claiming the Coin from one of the kobold corpses, Rester and Ravacaryn stayed one last night in Darkwell before heading back to Idrust.
Arriving in Idrust, Rester headed to the Order to report, inviting Ravacaryn to join him. Rester and Ravacaryn reported directly to Grand Master Salleek and informed her that they had claimed the Coin. Both Rester and Ravacaryn were formally inducted into the Order and had been assigned to Knight Dania. Before Ravacaryn could join Rester and Dania in Faecûn however, they first had to spend some time repairing the door to his home and shop.
